Annual Meetings - Congresses
The ESA held its Founding Congress in Brussels in May 1993, and its subsequent Annual Meetings in Brussels (1994), Paris (1995), London (1996), Lausanne (1997) Barcelona (1998), Amsterdam (1999) and Vienna (2000), Gothenburg (2001), Nice (2002), Glasgow (2003), Lisbon (2004), Vienna (2005), Madrid (2006), Munich (2007), and Copenhagen (2008). Future venues include Milan (2009) and Helsinki 2010.
The ESA organises Annual Meetings throughout Europe. These meetings are attended by members and non-members representing more than 65 countries from around the world. The Annual Meeting offers a comprehensive scientific programme of refresher course lectures, symposia and workshops, together with presentation and discussion of the latest research undertaken in Europe in particular. The Annual Meetings are organised with active participation of the National Societies, and joint meetings are held with them on occasion. The ESA Annual Meetings are accredited by the American Medical Association for C.M.E. credits.
The Annual Meetings comprise Refresher Course Lectures, Scientific Symposia, Industrial Symposia and presentation of original research papers, selected on the basis of quality of abstracts submitted. The scientific programme is established by 19 scientific subcommittees.
Abstracts of research papers and posters presented at the Annual Meeting are published as a supplement to the European Journal of Anaesthesiology.
Enquiries from companies wishing to take part in the Industrial Exhibition at the Annual Meeting should be made to the ESA Exhibition Manager
