Invitation from the host country

Flavia PetriniDear colleagues,

On behalf of the National Organising Committee, I would like to invite you to attend Euroanaesthesia 2009, the annual meeting of the European Society of Anaesthesiology, which will take place in Milan from June 6th to June 9th, 2009. The Società Italiana di Anestesia, Analgesia, Rianimazione e Terapia Intensiva also takes this opportunity to welcome all delegates.

Milan is an excellent city to host Euroanaesthesia 2009 meeting - for the first time in Italy, due to its strong links and relevant role played in the European history, culture, business, and medicine.

Milan is a reference centre in Italy and Europe for education, research and care in different fields of medicine due to the excellence of its public and private Universities and Hospitals, and Research Centres. One of the first European “Hospitals” to treat acute critically ill patients, the Ospedale Maggiore, Magna Domus Hospitalis or Ca’ Granda, was founded in 1456 by the Duke Francesco Sforza in Milan, and it is now the main building of the Università degli Studi di Milano, the main State University.

Milan is easy to reach from different European and non European countries, due to its connection facilities, and the climate is just perfect in early June to assure a very pleasant stay.

The Annual meeting of the European Society of Anaesthesiology is now well placed to advance knowledge in different areas of Anaesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, Critical Care, Pain and Hyperbaric treatment, taking into account basic research, clinical management, and educational issues.

We hope that the attractive programme of the congress, along with Milan’s central geographical location, its historical and cultural background with its unique art treasures and enjoyable style of life will attract an unprecedented number of delegates from all over Europe and, hopefully, the rest of the world.

Come on and join us! We look forward to welcoming you.

Prof. Flavia Petrini
