ESA/ESICM Patient Data Management Systems (PDMS) Task Force

The ESA and the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) are collaborating in various research areas. A new research area which has been suggested now is targeting at electronic Patient Data Management Systems (PDMS).

A variety of commercial systems are on the market. However, each vendor has developed his own specific features as well as his own terminology.

The aim of this joint ESA/ESICM Task Force is:

  1. To produce a glossary for PDMS. 
  2. To independently analyze the manufacturers suggestions to clinical requirements. 
  3. To collate and combine these different requirements and to produce standardization of the terminology used 
  4. Finally, to produce a position paper under the auspices of ESA/ESICM.
