It is the Editor’s job to prepare 4 issues of the ESA Newsletter each year or whatever number has been agreed with the ESA Board.
- The Editor will also write and prepare any additional material as agreed with the ESA Board or the ESA Media Committe
- The Editor has the right to appoint and dismiss Co-editors through the Media Committee
- The Editor may be entitled to local support and assistance as the ESA Media Committee feels appropriate to recommend
- All articles for publication will be written in BBC English. The Editor will correct and rewrite as necessary.
- Cooperation with ESA Secretariat on format of articles and illustrations. For each issue, the Editor will:
- Set out a plan for the content
- Commission new articles
- Communicate widely with employees and officers of the ESA
- Collate announcements and reports from/within the ESA for publication
- Review all articles and illustrations for publication
- Respect the publishing deadlines set by the ESA Secretariat
- Correspond with the ESA Secretariat to solve problems during submission
- Correct the proofs
- Be on hand to resolve any problems arising
The Editor is a full member of the ESA Media Committee. Travel expenses to attend meetings of this Committee are provided according to standard ESA policy.
